Compton Verney:
At Hark we love working with arts and culture organisations and we were recently commissioned by award-winning Warwickshire Art gallery Compton Verney to develop and produce a series of exhibition films. We came up with Compton Verney 'Close Up' a brand new short film series featuring forthcoming shows and exhibitions. The series offers a unique Curator's and artist's perspective and provides audiences with a fresh and engaging insight into the process of staging an exhibition.
The first episode in the series showcased the 'Outside In: Central' exhibition. A national project, begun in 2006 by Palent House Gallery, Outside In provides a platform for artists who for various reasons find it hard to access the mainstream art world.
The show featured exciting new work in a range of media from artist who in most cases had no formal training. Sixteen were selected by the curatorial team at Compton Verney from over 400 entries across ten counties in the central region: Warwickshire, Leicestershire, Shropshire, Oxfordshire, West Midlands, Buckinghamshire, Nottinghamshire, Hereford and Worcestershire, Staffordshire and Derbyshire.
Having created a new series ident and music, we interviewed Compton Verney curator Antonia Harrison and showcased some of the extraordinary work on show. With Antonia as our guide and using the latest HD camera equipment, the film featured a selection of key works from the show and dealt with broader issues raised by the notion of the Outsider artist. The film went out on Compton Verney's website, YouTube channel, and social media channels including Facebook and Twitter.
You can also see our dark and brooding teaser trailer for their forthcoming exhibition Curious Beasts: Animal Prints from the British Museum below. With the whole of the magnificent Robert Adam building at our disposal and empty galleries filled with a wealth of art treasures we went to work and created a movie style trailer for the exhibition with a rich animal inspired soundtrack.
